At White Knight, we like finding ways to integrate our business and culture with giving back to the communities where we work and live. A great example of this ethos is our recent company Thanksgiving celebration, held at the nearby Community Culinary School of Charlotte on November 15.
Founded in 1997, the Community Culinary School of Charlotte (CCSC) provides workforce development training and job placement assistance in the food service industry for adults who face barriers to long-term successful employment. CCSC features 14-week core program teaches culinary arts, job-readiness skills, and goal setting to help students obtain and maintain career level jobs. Recent additions to the program include a full-service café, where students now gain valuable front-of-house experience to complement their cooking skills, and a catering service.
Corporate groups, like the team from White Knight, share a one-of-a-kind team-building experience at CCCS. Chefs like Executive Director Ron Ahlert lead tours and assist attendees with menu selections, and the experience culminates in a meal that participants both create and enjoy. Attendees leave the experience not only with a great meal, but also with a better understanding of the long-term, life-saving impact of workforce development for the restaurant industry.
White Knight is proud to be listed among the Community Culinary School’s roster of industry and community partners in the Charlotte metropolitan area, and we are thrilled to have them as our neighbors since their 2014 relocation to Monroe Road’s Greylyn Business Park.
“We are big supporters of Chef Ron and the team at Community Culinary School of Charlotte,” said White Knight CEO Scott Banks. “The Community Culinary School is one of the better examples you’ll find of what’s great about the Queen City. The school and its alumni write new chapters of community impact year after year. It’s an honor to call them our neighbors and friends, and we look forward to supporting the school and café for years to come.”
